Η Dounias παρουσιάζει το WhereOliveTreesWeep, ένα βραβευμένο ντοκιμαντέρ που ρίχνει φως στους αγώνες και την ανθεκτικότητα του παλαιστινιακού λαού υπό ισραηλινή κατοχή και εξερευνά ζητήματα απώλειας, τραύματος και δικαιοσύνης.

Θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση με την Ashira Darwish, Παλαιστίνια σωματοθεραπεύτρια και αφηγήτρια, μία από τις βασικές πρωταγωνίστριες του ντοκιμαντέρ.
Το ντοκιμαντέρ ακολουθεί, μεταξύ άλλων, την Παλαιστίνια δημοσιογράφο και θεραπεύτρια Ashira Darwish, την ακτιβίστρια Ahed Tamimi και την Ισραηλινή δημοσιογράφο Amira Haas, ενώ βλέπουμε τον Dr. Gabor Maté να δουλεύει με μια ομάδα γυναικών που έχουν υποστεί βασανιστήρια σε ισραηλινές φυλακές, εστιάζοντας στην επούλωση του τραύματος.
Αρχαία τοπία, φορτισμένα με μνήμες, φέρουν τα σημάδια μιας σκληρής πραγματικότητας — απαλλοτριώσεις γης, εκτοπισμοί, φυλακίσεις, κατεδαφίσεις σπιτιών, στέρηση νερού και βασικών δικαιωμάτων. Κι όμως, μέσα από το πέπλο της καταπίεσης, διακρίνονται στιγμές αντοχής — βαθιές ρίζες που κρατούν έναν λαό όρθιο μέσα σε δεκαετίες βίας και απώλειας.
Ένα βαθιά συγκινητικό ταξίδι που αναδεικνύει την ανθρώπινη διάσταση των καταπιεσμένων, θέτοντας ταυτόχρονα ένα δύσκολο ερώτημα: τι είναι αυτό που κάνει τον καταπιεστή τόσο αμείλικτα τυφλό απέναντι στη δική του βία;

Dounias presents the award-winning documentary Where Olive Trees Weep, whichoffers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation, and explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.
“No One Is Free Until We Are All Free”
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Ashira Darwish, a Palestinian somatic healing practitioner and storyteller, and one of the main characters of the film.
The documentary follows, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We witness Dr. Gabor Maté offering trauma-healing work for a group of women who have been tortured in Israeli prisons.
Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives.
This emotional journey bares the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?
